My cousin decided that she was going to stay in last night, so Dustin and I were on our own for dinner. I had to go to the craft store anyway, so we stopped for dinner at Union Square Restaurant in Newburgh. They have an eclectic menu with a little of everything, including brick oven pizza, salads, Mexican, seafood, and all sorts of burgers, including turkey and veggie. We love their pizza, the crust is always crispy and flavorful. In other words, nearly perfect.
It might have a bit too much cornmeal, but other than that it’s superb.
Dustin was beaming with joy over the spring-like weather we’ve been experiencing.
But then we overheard someone mention that we’re getting snow on Monday and Dustin went into a deep depression.
I ordered a diet Pepsi and a water, sometimes I just want a little flavored fizz.
Glad I also ordered water ’cause the bubbles were few and far between in the diet Pep.
I hate weak carbonation, defeats the purpose! lol
I started with their chopped salad while we waited for our pizza. I ordered the small, but I think it’s actually quite big!
After putting some on my salad plate…
…it looks like it barely made a dent!
Their house balsamic is amazing. They always give such a large portion of it, but really only a few drops are needed for the flavor.
Salad plate x 2
We ordered 2 small pizzas. Dustin almost always wants pepperoni and I’m not really a pepperoni girl. I like it like maybe once a year, probably less than that.
I went with the shrimp and pesto pizza with fresh mozzarella cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, and fresh basil.
Fabulous!!! Dustin’s pepperoni pizza couldn’t hold a candle to that beauty!!
Everything about it was amazing. The perfectly crisp crust, the savory pesto, the sweet hints of sun-dried tomato, and the kiss of fresh basil all complimenting the delicious pieces of shrimp. I had 2 slices and brought the rest home for my mom. Yum! We also brought a piece of cheesecake home to share for dessert. SO GOOD!
My cousin ended up stopping by late last night anyway. And of course she was hungry when she got here. I’m sure she regretted missing out on our yummy dinner.
Dustin’s still working on my light box, can’t wait for it to be done! I also can’t wait for Daylight Saving—daylight until 9:00 pm? Yes, please!
Not sure what else we’re doing this weekend. I have to start organizing my mom’s birthday party for next Friday. Still haven’t decided on a cake or a menu.
I should probably do that in the next couple of days.
Question: Do you and your SO or other family/friends like different toppings on pizza? We often compromise on just plain cheese, but truthfully, he wants meats and I want veggies, lol. So we end up doing half and half or ordering separately. Pepperoni grease contaminates everything!
LOL

“. The perfectly crisp crust, the savory pesto, the sweet hints of sun-dried tomato, and the kiss of fresh basil all complimenting the delicious pieces of shrimp”–
that sentence sounds amazing!
I love pineapple and sundried tomatoes or extra tomatoes and veggies on pizza. That’s it. Between no dairy and no gluten, it’s been YEARS tho since i have even had pizza. I know i “could” re-create it without, i just havent…yet
U and Dustin are so sweet! U are such a great couple ; )
I dont like pepperoni either : p
I love mushrooms on my pizza!!! I love spinach on it too!! I like your pizza you got ; )
The balsamic dressing looks sooooo good! I love a good balsamic dressing!
Happy Saturday! xoxo
That pizza looks sooo delish!
My family and I usually compromise on a variety of veggies- there aren’t really any members too carnivorous, so it’s not usually a problem that I’m a vegetarian

I have to do the whole gluten-free dairy-free thing, so the boy and I always get separate pizzas… your choice looks FABULOUS!
looks like you two had a great evening! i LOVE pizza, but i always get my own since i don’t eat cheese and no one in their right mind orders pizza without cheese. (which i totally get. been there.) i think my favorite toppings must be pumpkin or smoked salmon!

I fell into a deep depression when it started snowing today in Utah! I love pizza with whole wheat or thin crust – and my favorite toppings are every vegetable in the kitchen! I’ll try anything once, but I especially love fresh tomatoes!

I love veggie pizza and my husband likes meat toppings – we usually compromise on cheese.
That pizza looks amazing!! My husband and I like the same type of things on our pizza–he just like a lot more cheese than I do.
I am pretty depressed about the snow we just got too!
