Soak It Up

by j3nn on April 1, 2011

Herro. I feel craptastic. Sick smile My cough has gotten worse, but thankfully that’s the only symptom I have. Although, now my whole upper body hurts from coughing—even my arms. Sad smile I’m sore like I did a very intense upper body workout, but I barely lifted my spoon today much less heavy weights, lol.

I took some NyQuil last night, so I woke up feeling worse; groggy and weak. It didn’t even help. I still woke up coughing several times throughout the night. Yeah, it progressed to the dreaded wake-up-hacking cough. Blah. I’m sure it will subside in a few days. I hope. Unless it’s pneumonia… or my old smoking habit caught up with me and I’m dying. Crying face Ok, I admit, my hypochondria surfaces whenever I get a little bug, lol. Paranoid much? Eye rolling smile

Dustin is also a little congested and our kitties are sneezing and congested. What the heck? lol Sympathy sniffles? haha Pretty sure it’s impossible to contract or give something to another species, LOL.

My throat is only a little sore, mainly just irritated from my coughing attacks. So, I can pretty much eat (swallow) whatever I want, but soups and cold things, like Italian ice and fruit have been appealing to me. Besides, I have a ton of homemade croutons to add to soups, and they are yummmmmy!

I love keeping cans of Trader Joe’s low-sodium minestrone in the cabinet for times like this. It’s so tasty and only 200 calories for the whole can!

I warmed it up on the stove and added some water to it because it’s pretty thick, almost like a stew. 5 minutes later, it’s soup time.

I love how the croutons soak up all the liquid. Bowls of mush rock, LOL. I added the rest of the croutons as I went along. Open-mouthed smile

A little sprinkle of shaved parmesan cheese. Perfecto!

Deeeeelicious!

For a snack, I cut up a Bartlett pear and a plum and made a fruit cup.

SOOOOOO good! I Red heart fresh fruit.

We didn’t get nearly as much snow as they were predicting—yay for wrong weatherpersons!! Open-mouthed smile It’s still cloudy, but that’s better than another foot of snow.

So, it’s Friday night and I’m too sick to go anywhere. Not that I would anyway, lol. It’s the thought that counts!

Any plans for the weekend? My only plan is to stay alive. So far, so good. Rolling on the floor laughing YAY! I think I’ll go watch something on TV, get out of the office for awhile. Or play Angry Birds, lol. Be back later…

Gah!!! My husband has the same annoying caugh! Started off as a cold and now just the hacking cough is left. I actually went to the pharmacy the other night and explained to the pharmacist that Nyquil and all that jazz wasn’t helping. Not sure if this applies in your area but there’s over the counter cough syrup with codeine in it. They keep it behind the counter and you don’t need a prescription! Maybe it’s worth a shot???

In any case, I hope you feel better real soon!!!!!!! :)

Ugh- it really seems like a “sick” time of year, I’m just knocking on wood over here. The only upside to this crap is I always feel really sorry for myself and watch terrible guilty pleasure TV and read magazines all day haha
Feel better soon :)

You know I usually get a cold when the temperatures change like this — honestly I expect it to hit me any day now!

I hope you feel better soon — the only plans I have are to help my dad car shop tomorrow (boring!)

So we very well may just be clones of eachother … I have that same hacking, yucky, oh-my-God-make-this-stop cough going on. The cold is passing, but this cough… Seriously! But then, everyone I know seems to be sick… Tis the season!

That sound looks super yummy. Thanks for the idea!

Girl I am sick too. I have been for a few days. Nothing like 80F here and sickness. And today, I fell. I just blogged about it. Pretty much the april fool’s day joke was on me . Ugh.

The minestrone soup….i HATE salt so good to know that that one passes your test.

Nyquil is evil and nothing good ever comes from it! Other than a hangover feeling, but you never even get the feel-good-buzzed feeling that comes with real drinking :)

I can’t believe snow is still falling. That is crazy!!

Huge weekend plans… I’m moving again and we are leaving tomorrow (Sunday!) Driving all the way to Georgia from Texas. We spent all day Friday having the packers and movers come take our stuff. It kind of nice letting other people do all the work. ;)

Good luck with the move! Next time we move we’re going to have someone else do it for us, lol. So much easier!

We lived in Georgia for almost 2 years–Buford, an Atlanta suburb. It must be so crazy for you; from Vegas to Texas and now Georgia. I hope you’re having fun and enjoying it!! :)

So sorry you’re not feeling well, I’ve been dealing with an annoying cold too – not fun! :-( And that always happens to me when I take NyQuil too. The TJ’s soup looks great.

I’m hoping to get in a little gardening this weekend and meet my sisters for lunch at a great vegan restaurant, not too exciting. Hope you feel better soon!

Ohh I hope you feel better soon :( It’s no fun being sick at this time of the year.
I can totally relate to you when you say your hypochondria has surfaced…I have been waking up with a slight cough ever morning and I am absolutely convinced there is mold in my house!
Take it easy!

Take some Mucinex. It lasts for 12 hours. Your cough will be gone for those 12 hours – guaranteed! This is the best medicine for a cough that I’ve ever taken. Take some now, and you can thank me later!!!!

Oh no. I’m so sorry you aren’t well. What you have seems to be EVERYWHERE this year. It’s scary. But that soup must have made things a little better.
Rest up and heal.

Yuck – nothing like getting sick right in time for the weekend, right? Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well :[ I hope today was better!! We didn’t get nearly as much snow as they were predicting, either – thank God! I would have lost it if we got the predicted 15″, haha.

Oh yuck–sounds like you are really miserable. I hope you’re feeling better soon.

Those homemade croutons look so good. I never remember to put croutons in soup, but YUM, I need to!

Just wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog. Looking forward to checking yours out. Hope you feel better soon. Our pups have had upper respiratory infections lately. It stinks when the whole family (furbabies and all) are sick.

Sorry you’re feeling craptastic. :( Soup and fresh fruit’s definitely the way to go in that case, though! Feed it well and get better soon!

Only 200 calories?! That part especially caught my eye since I stalk (I’m not even kiddin’) the soup section of TJ’s. Feel better, hon!
