Teeny Bopper Birthdays

by j3nn on April 24, 2011

Two of my little cousins are just now entering into their teen years. Seems like just yesterday that was me! Although I wouldn’t want to be a teenager again… well, maybe 19, lol. I wouldn’t complain too much about that. But I like being an adult. I like being my age. Mainly because I don’t really feel 31; even though I have days that I feel as old as dirt, I usually feel somewhere between 12 and 16. It’s a good feeling!

My cousin, Mandi, turned 14 the other day, so we went to her party at my Aunt Stephanie’s house on Friday. My aunt always let the kids choose what they want to eat, so it was typical teenager food: hot dogs and hamburgers. No complaints from me, two of my favorite foods!

Aunt Stephanie always puts out a lovely spread of fruit. We’re a fruity family.

These strawberries were fabuloussssssssss!

Celery and carrot sticks are one of my favorite party foods. They’re so much fun to snack on.

These were sitting on the deck when we arrived. My mom thought they were Easter eggs, LOL.

Aunt Stephanie has the BEST natural lighting in her house! The second floor has windows on every wall, so even as it was approaching sunset and the curtains were drawn, my pictures still came out pretty amazing. I’m totally jelly! Our house is lighting-challenged in every room. Boo!

See how bright and awesome? Want! Sunshine is going on my wish list. Sun

My plate:

Cheeseburger, mac salad, Aunt Gina’s purple cole slaw, cantaloupe, celery, carrots, piece of cheese, and a chocolate-covered strawberry. I fasted for close to 20 hours by the time we got there, so needless to say I enjoyed every bite. Open-mouthed smile

I declined cake even though it looked delicious. After gorging on all of the other party food, plus Scoops + salsa, I was stuffed and really wouldn’t have enjoyed the cake as full as I was. Aunt Stephanie insisted we take some home, though. Don't tell anyone smile One more goodie to add to the collection of holiday food overflowing in the fridge. Oy. I better get my 7-mile walk on!

And now we’re at the day we’ve been anticipating all week: EASTER!! Yay! I’ll have an Easter update later today.

Happy Easter, everyone!! have a great one! Bunny be back later today. Open-mouthed smile

What a beautiful and lovely spread! (Healthy too!) I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I love natural lighting too sadly, my apartment lacks windows. Hopefully my next place will have more windows!

All of that food looks so good! Those strawberries look perfect and those bananas are perfect too (yellow with a few brown spots are the best!)

Happy Easter!

wow that lighting really is amazing! I’m jealous :)
I always feel so strange when I see my “little” cousins and they’re now in high school and taller than me!

I dont feel my age either, at all! The strawberry spread looks amazing! You know, you dont need to have a “recipe” in order to submit pics. My pics from my food styling event made it, and they were not recipes. As long as there is a post associated with the food, you can submit it. So try. B/c that 1st shot is gorg! Natural light rocks. I have major lighting issues at home too.

Happy Easter to you and Dustin!
