Independence Day

"I should have loved freedom, I believe, at all times, but in the time in which we live I am ready to worship it."  — Alexis de Tocqueville

It’s always a good day to declare your independence from whatever or whomever is standing between you and individual sovereignty. Be free to live your life as you choose.

We’re so fortunate to be surrounded by firework displays this year without having the leave our yard. Our new house overlooks the Hudson River, and we have a fantastic view of the displays in several directions, from Poughkeepsie to Wappingers Falls to Fishkill to Newburgh. There were tons going off last night and I bet there will be even more tonight! So excited.

(that’s our neighbor’s house, not ours. ours is the shadow, lol!)

I haven’t been feeling so well this week, Aunt Flo is being a raging bitch menace. Sad smile Dustin surprised me with roses because he felt bad for me.

He’s the greatest. Red heart He stopped at the florist just to buy them while he was out getting my shopping list. LOVE HIM.

We’re BBQing yummy things today, which I’ll share later, but for now here’s a fantastic new recipe I added to the recipe section:

Hawaiian Baked Beans (vegetarian, gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free, vegan)

SO GOOD! If you like sweet and savory. Winking smile Get the recipe here!

Almost 3:00 PM and I need a shower. Also have to run to the store.

Have a safe and happy independence day today and always!

Peace. Peace Love. Red heart Freedom. Star

Those beans look awesome and funny you should link those up…I am in the midst of a savory pineapple dish. Sort of a Hawaiian vibe. Sorry Aunt Flo has you down but Dustin sure knows the way to a girl’s heart :)

an old house I lived in was at the top of Portland’s West Hills, and I would go out on the roof of my garage and watch two firework displays – Portland’s and Vancouver’s. I could see smaller ones all around as well. Those years were fun, I’d have people over, didn’t have to leave the house.

hope you are feeling better now, flowers = Good Man!
