Are you confused by the new header and title you see on my blog? Don’t be. I’m in the midst of revamping my blog, a change that has been in the works for more than a year! We’re finally getting somewhere with it, and soon—very soon–it should be complete. For now, please bear with me as the reconstruction happens. There are many good things to come!
We were in Middletown yesterday putzing around A.C. Moore for my photography props when it occurred to me that we haven’t been to one of the best restaurants in the Hudson Valley in a while: Mix N Mac! The last time we were there was back in April—way too long.
There are so many combinations to choose from, it’s really hard to decide. Our last visit there I had the cheeseburger mac ‘n cheese, Dustin had the Tomazza. This visit I ordered the mushroom with broccoli and tuna added. Dustin ordered the mushroom, no add-ins.
Mushroom: Swiss, sauteed mushrooms, port wine sauce, smoked gouda and crunchy breadcrumbs sprinkled on top.
This was the most outstanding mac ‘n cheese I’ve ever had!!
There are no words. Ok, there are a few: Rich, creamy, decadent, drool-worthy, tasty, amazing, iwantthistobemylastmealonearth. It’s that good.
The owners liked my last review and sent us out complimentary fried mac ‘n cheese balls…
Triple cheese cranberry and bacon & cheddar. The triple cheese cranberry… OMG! What a fantastic combo! Sweet and savory, with cheese oozing out of a crispy little ball? WOW.
I’ve never had anything quite like it. The cranberry is brilliant. In fact, I’m thinking of revising our Thanksgiving menu: Triple cheese cranberry mac ‘n cheese balls. And that’s it.
Proof that my husband is the kindest and craziest person I’ll ever know: He doesn’t mind helping me with photos even when he’s hungry and there’s a big portion of awesomeness sitting in front of him.
They were quite generous with the tuna and broccoli.
And mushrooms. And cheese.
I regret drinking a whole bottle of lemonade before this. I really wanted more of it, but there wasn’t anymore room.
That’s a good problem to have, though. I ate about 1/3 of mine and brought the rest home, which turned into 2 more meals.
I love everything about Mix n Mac. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the natural sunlight makes my photos come out stunningly, and the food… it’s SO GOOD. Plus they have a gluten-free option! I want to live there.
Yeah, so, umm, the recipes I have lined up for the next few posts are going to pale in comparison to this. Sorry. LOL. Kidding. They’ll be delicious, too. Promise.

Looks awesome.
I get so excited every time I see someone else who loves Mix N Mac! The triple cheese cranberry mac balls are pretty much to die for. The shrimp scampi mac absolutely brilliant! And the owners are the nicest people you could meet – they really make going there a pleasure.
Definitely, definitely, definitely! I want to try all of the combinations, if that’s even possible. So many cheesy choices, so little time.
