1.) Walking into Shop Rite I passed by Family Dollar and noticed a stack of mason jars on clearance right in the front aisle. Intrigued, I popped in and scored some serious bargains.
50% off – $3.25 for a DOZEN jars with lids + bands!
So I bought 8 dozen (96!!) assorted mason jars for $26 + tax. That’s insane! I love 1970s prices.
2.) I found a local doctor who is into finding the root cause of symptoms and treating them as naturally as possible, starting with diet modification and analyzing hormonal levels. Not that diet modification is always the answer, but it’s good to have a knowledgeable doctor that doesn’t want to just throw pills at you. I have been in contact with her via email and hope to meet with her soon and go from there. Time to fix my ongoing digestive and female problems. No more procrastination! There was a great improvement in Aunt Flo’s visit this month. I did it 100% pain-killer free. My other doctor doesn’t want me to take Advil anymore, and Tylenol doesn’t look much better, so I went drug-free for the first time in years and I survived. The monthly Advil was contributing to my stomach problems and may have even been the cause of my downward spiral. Not sure. Too many variables.
3.) I bought some Nutiva hemp seeds on Amazon. They taste like walnuts. Really good and excellent nutritional profile.
Look at all of that iron, magnesium, zinc, and phosphorus! Wow!
For some reason I thought hemp tasted more earthy. I was surprised that it tastes like a walnut, just slightly sweeter. I dig it.
4.) Also bought this Kuhn Rikon peeler on Amazon when Nom Nom Paleo showcased it the other day:
It makes awesome zucchini spaghetti strands or other veggies which can be handy for times you don’t want to take out the spiralizer.
5.) I may have impulsively picked up this Orgreenic ceramic non-stick frying pan at the store because I’m such a hipster.
6.) I’m gearing up for a (temporary?!) dairy-free existence, so I’ve been busy hacking in the kitchen and coming up with replacements. This week I made dairy-free sour cream and it’s fabulous!
Dairy-free, (raw) vegan, gluten-free, and soy-free. Get the recipe here!
7.) Have you entered my Tropical Traditions coconut oil giveaway yet?! There’s still time! 18 chances to win a 32 oz jar of virgin coconut oil. Enter here! Contest ends August 8.
8.) Our car is in the shop and then it’s getting an oil change and a bath! I could probably use a bath too.
9.) I changed my iPad’s charger from the USB cord to direct wall outlet and the battery now charges to 100% and lasts longer. Crisis averted? Hope so!
10.) I downloaded the book Fiber Menace for Kindle. The first two pages of the introduction are so disturbing that my mouth was practically on the floor!
I’m only a few pages in, but so far it’s pretty interesting.
11.) I subscribed to Poland Spring water home delivery yesterday. I’m excited about that! No more lugging empty jugs back and forth and it’s actually a few cents cheaper per gallon. Win-win. Oh, and they give you a free water cooler to use. Now we can have one in the office, or upstairs? #lazy
12.) We’re supposed to get severe storms this weekend – ugh! Poor Caesar. The past several weeks have been so traumatic for him between the fireworks and thunderstorms. We got him a “calming vest” but it doesn’t help at all. He’s inconsolable. We have to build him a sound-proof crate ASAP!
13.) Because I like odd numbers.

score on the jars, wow! do you have plans for that many?
I love hemp seeds and their subtle creamy flavor.
glad you found what sounds like a good doc – hope they find out whats up and get you feeling better!
That’s what the clerk asked, “What are you going to do with all of them??!”
I have no idea! LOL I figured they’re good to keep dry things in even if I don’t can anything. Cotton balls? haha
Thank you for the well wishes.

And your doctor that you found – I hope you find some relief, ANY, and soon!
I was looking at those dog calming vests for my dog, hmmm maybe I’ll save my money instead. Love the jars, I use them for spare change, vases, storing dry ingredients, corralling the kid’s collections of rocks, seashells, etc., dog treats oh, and food, too! The possibilities are endless….
